New Jersey and Concordia University Wisconsin's NP programs
New Jersey is a "Does Not Meet Requirements" state in Concordia University Wisconsin's current disclosure, and that verdict holds for each graduate nurse practitioner table, from the MSN's FNP and AGPCNP tracks to the two doctoral routes and the pair of CAGE certificates. CUW offers none of them as a way into New Jersey NP practice. The three states bordering New Jersey share that column, so for a Garden State nurse the useful questions are about moves and timing.

New Jersey has a longer history on CUW's lists than most states. Three archived CUW pages named it among states closed to new students: the MSN page as captured in 2022, that page again in August 2024, and a Post-MSN DNP page from 2022. Over roughly the same stretch, the 2023 to May 2024 disclosure still said New Jersey met requirements for the master's and doctoral tables. What New Jersey's rules say about out-of-state clinicals
Silence is the short answer. A search of New Jersey's regulations found nothing making a school from elsewhere ask permission, or file notice, before its students begin at a New Jersey site. The Board's chapter, N.J.A.C. 13:37, spends its first subchapter on accrediting schools licensed in New Jersey, while 13:37-1.10(c) speaks only to home-state schools placing students in other states, the reverse of a CUW case.
The Board belongs to the state's Division of Consumer Affairs and may post guidance that research could not reach, since its site answered with a security challenge. Ask the Board before leaning on that silence.
Without a New Jersey rule, CUW's catalog rule still governs: students check eligibility for any clinical state beyond Wisconsin, as clinicals outside Wisconsin explains. No choice of clinical site changes the New Jersey row.
Joint protocols and New Jersey preceptors
AANP calls New Jersey reduced practice: prescribing and device orders by a New Jersey NP rest on joint protocols with a physician collaborator. An NP precepting there teaches prescribing inside those protocols. No state preceptor incentive is on record.
RWJBarnabas Health, Virtua Health and Hackensack Meridian Health each run large networks, and Atlantic Health System and Cooper University Health Care, based in Camden, belong on the same list. About seven million New Jerseyans live inside the New York-Newark-Jersey City metro, roughly 1.4 million more in greater Philadelphia's New Jersey counties, with Trenton-Princeton and Atlantic City-Hammonton next. None of these systems publishes a CUW relationship.
Licensing in a compact state beside a non-compact one
Since November 15, 2021, New Jersey has issued and honored multistate licenses. Pennsylvania (a member since July 7, 2025) and Delaware also belong, so a multistate license with New Jersey as home reaches Philadelphia and Wilmington, but it stops at the New York line: New York has never joined. New Jersey has no APRN Compact statute on its books, and that compact needs a seventh state to start. CUW's own license expectations sit on RN license for clinicals.

Can New Jersey residents enroll in CUW's online NP programs?
CUW publishes no enrollment limit by home state, and its archived MSN pages once did. Its current table, though, marks each graduate NP program as falling short of New Jersey's requirements, and CUW makes no claim that the MSN, DNP or CAGE readies you for NP practice there. Ask CUW admissions for a written answer before applying.
Must CUW get New Jersey's permission before I train there?
No rule saying so appears in N.J.A.C. 13:37, which governs New Jersey's own schools, but posted Board guidance, if any, went unread because the site blocked automated access. Ask the Board directly, and remember that CUW leaves the eligibility check with you and lists New Jersey as not meeting requirements.
Does my New Jersey multistate license work in Pennsylvania or New York?
Pennsylvania, yes, since its July 7, 2025 start date in the compact; a multistate license with New Jersey as home carries over. New York, no. It has never joined and has no pending compact bill, so practicing there means holding a New York license.
Was New Jersey ever listed as meeting requirements for CUW's MSN?
On the disclosure, briefly: the March 2023 and May 2024 archived copies put New Jersey in the Meets column for the master's and both doctoral tables. Program pages from those years disagreed, naming New Jersey as a state CUW was not enrolling from. Since August 2024 both sources say the same thing.
