What travels with you across state lines
CUW's disclosure says its MSN primary care NP meets licensure requirements in 26 states and does not in 24. The Post-BSN to DNP also fails Washington, the Post-MSN DNP also fails North Dakota, and both CAGE certificates also fail Texas and Washington; the MSN PMHNP and PMHNP DNP have no rows yet. If your clinicals are outside Wisconsin, CUW puts it on you to confirm the program is eligible in that state.

Does CUW enroll online NP students from every state?
CUW's disclosure rates each program state by state. Where the answer is "does not meet", the program may not lead to licensure in that state, so anyone living in one of those 24 states should check with CUW before applying. Before August 2024 the table listed every state as meeting requirements.
Is Wisconsin in the Nurse Licensure Compact?
Yes, since January 19, 2018, so a Wisconsin multistate RN license covers the other compact states. Iowa is a compact state too, while Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota are not, so clinicals there need that state's own license.
Why is the PMHNP missing from CUW's state table?
CUW's disclosure page has rows for the MSN primary care NP, the two DNPs, both CAGE certificates and the RN to BSN, but none yet for the MSN PMHNP, the PMHNP DNP or the Direct Entry MSN. Ask CUW for the answer for your state.
Can I move to a different state partway through a CUW program?
First look up your program and the new state in CUW's disclosure; then raise the move with the Graduate Clinical Coordinator before you go. CUW's catalog makes clinicals outside Wisconsin the student's responsibility to clear with that state.
