Nebraska and Concordia University Wisconsin's NP programs
First, the name: this page is about Concordia University Wisconsin, based in Mequon, not Concordia University Nebraska, which is a separate school. CUW's current disclosure lists Nebraska as "Does Not Meet Requirements" for its MSN FNP and AGPCNP, both DNP programs and both CAGE certificates, so CUW makes no claim that those programs prepare you for APRN licensure in Nebraska. Almost every state around Nebraska reads differently, which is where this page earns its keep.

Nebraska's row, and the Concordia mix-up to avoid
With two Concordia universities in the picture, check that any disclosure you read carries CUW's name. These are CUW's own Nebraska entries.

Nebraska never appeared on the state lists CUW printed on its MSN pages in 2022 and 2024 or its 2022 Post-MSN DNP page, and before August 2024 the table itself filed Nebraska as meeting for the master's and both doctoral programs. Only the campus BSN tables list Nebraska as meeting today. The disclosure guide explains the 2024 rewrite.
How Nebraska treats nursing programs based elsewhere
The Board of Nursing works within DHHS, through the Division of Public Health's Licensure Unit. Its approval power covers pre-licensure programs teaching students in Nebraska, the ones ending in the NCLEX; post-licensure programs, online or in person, sit outside its regulation. Graduate and APRN clinicals therefore face no Board approval step.
Two other DHHS positions still matter to a school. DHHS adopts NCSBN's view that a student practices in whatever state the student is physically in, so faculty hold licenses where their students sit, and faculty over APRN students in Nebraska hold a Nebraska APRN license. Preceptor arrangements run program to facility, and post-licensure programs write their own preceptor qualifications; CUW's archived standards are on preceptor requirements.
One housekeeping note: the APRN board that DHHS rosters listed on its own through June 2026 is gone from the July and September 2026 rosters, whose APRN, CNS and CNM members now serve on the Board of Nursing. A statute confirming that merger has not surfaced.
NP practice and training sites in Nebraska
AANP lists Nebraska as full practice after a new NP completes a 2,000-hour stretch with a supervising provider. No state preceptor incentive is on record.
Nebraska Medicine and Bryan Health are among the state's big systems, joined by CHI Health, Children's Nebraska and Methodist Health System (Nebraska Methodist). Omaha is the dominant metro, with Lincoln well behind and Grand Island a distant third. None of these systems publishes a tie to CUW; they show the landscape Nebraska's own NP students work in.
Compact status for Nebraska nurses
NCSBN's implementation table gives one compact date, January 19, 2018, for Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin alike, and Nebraska's other neighbors belong as well. A nurse who calls Nebraska home and holds a multistate license can work across much of the region on one credential. Is CUW the same school as Concordia University Nebraska?
No. Concordia University Wisconsin is its own institution, with its School of Nursing on the Mequon campus in Wisconsin. Concordia University Nebraska is a separate school with its own programs and disclosures. Everything on this site, including the Nebraska row above, refers to CUW only.
Can I take CUW's online FNP while living in Omaha?
CUW publishes no enrollment rule based on where you live, yet its disclosure files Nebraska on the does-not-meet side of the master's primary care table. If you intend to hold your NP license in Iowa, that row reads Meets; if Nebraska is where you will practice, get CUW admissions' written answer before applying.
Does Nebraska have to approve CUW before clinicals there?
The Board's approval reaches only pre-licensure programs, and post-licensure ones fall outside its regulation, so graduate clinicals need no Board sign-off. DHHS does expect a Nebraska APRN license from faculty overseeing APRN students there. Put that to the Graduate Clinical Coordinator, keeping in mind that the Nebraska row is a separate, licensure question.
Does my Nebraska multistate license cover clinicals in Iowa?
With Nebraska as your declared home and a multistate license, yes: the privilege extends to Iowa, Wisconsin and the other member states.
