Georgia and Concordia University Wisconsin's NP programs
Georgia sits under "Does Not Meet Requirements" in Concordia University Wisconsin's current disclosure for the MSN primary care NP, both DNPs, both CAGE certificates and the online RN to BSN. Georgia's Board of Nursing, for its part, leaves graduate programs from other states unregulated but holds anyone training or teaching inside Georgia to firm license rules.

Georgia's answer in CUW's tables
Every row CUW publishes for working nurses lands in the same column for Georgia. Read that as licensure language: none of CUW's NP, DNP or certificate programs is presented as leading to a Georgia license, and the RN to BSN gets the same answer. The PMHNP MSN and DNP are absent from the page, which calls for a direct question to CUW admissions. Georgia's move came with the August 2024 table; older copies listed it as meeting. Georgia leaves graduate programs to the license rules
Georgia's Board of Nursing works out of the Secretary of State's office, and it takes a hands-off view of post-licensure education. APRN programs included, the Board neither approves nor regulates them, so an MSN or NP program headquartered elsewhere files nothing with Georgia to bring a student into a clinical site there. Pre-licensure is the opposite story. By the Board's own account, not one program from another state or online that prepares students for a first license is currently cleared to run clinicals in Georgia.
What the Board does police is licenses. Georgians studying with a school in another state practice, for any clinical hours completed at home, on a license Georgia issued or on a multistate license from any compact state. The same license test covers faculty and preceptors, whether they teach in the room or electronically. APRN programs carry one more condition: the Board wants their clinical instruction delivered by a nurse who holds Georgia APRN authorization. Given CUW's table, take any Georgia site to the Graduate Clinical Coordinator first.
Restricted practice and Georgia's preceptor tax credit
In AANP's grading Georgia is restricted: an NP there works under delegation from, or supervision by, a physician, and faces limits on Schedule II drugs. The state courts preceptors through its Preceptor Tax Incentive Program (PTIP). HB 144 reworked and lengthened PTIP, and from 2026 preceptors register for it annually. The credit counts only rotations for students enrolled at Georgia's own schools of medicine, dentistry, NP or PA study, so a preceptor teaching a student from a Wisconsin school earns nothing under it.
Metro Atlanta, the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell area, dwarfs everything else in the state, with Augusta, Savannah and Columbus trailing well behind. Piedmont, Emory Healthcare, Wellstar, Grady Health System and Northside Hospital are examples of the large systems Georgia NP students look to, each with its own terms for students.
Your RN license in a compact state
Georgia's Nurse Licensure Compact membership took effect on January 19, 2018, as Wisconsin's did. So a nurse holding a Wisconsin multistate RN license already has what the Board's clinical-hours rule looks for on the RN side. The APRN Compact has no Georgia law behind it. That settles the RN side only, not CUW's licensure answer. CUW's own expectations are on your RN license for clinicals.
Where a Georgia nurse and our team meet
Look at the map before you look for a preceptor. Three of Georgia's neighbors, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina, appear under Meets in all five CUW graduate tables, while Alabama and Tennessee share Georgia's Does Not Meet status. The Augusta metro already straddles the South Carolina line and the Columbus metro reaches into Alabama, so a short move can land a nurse on either side of CUW's table.

Questions CUW students ask
Does Georgia's Board need to approve CUW before a clinical rotation there?
Georgia has no approval step for post-licensure programs, since its Board neither approves nor regulates them, APRN programs included. Its conditions attach to licenses: the student's, the faculty's and the preceptor's. Even so, CUW's table marks Georgia as not meeting for its NP programs, so raise any Georgia site with the Graduate Clinical Coordinator before you contact a preceptor.
Would precepting a CUW student earn a Georgia tax credit?
No. PTIP credit is limited to rotations for students enrolled at Georgia schools in medicine, dentistry, NP or PA study. CUW is a Wisconsin school, so precepting a CUW student would not earn the credit. Georgia's revenue department and AHEC pages also disagree on the post-HB 144 terms.
Who can precept an APRN student in Georgia?
Per the Board, APRN students in Georgia are clinically instructed by a nurse with Georgia APRN authorization, and anyone teaching or precepting inside the state meets its license rule. CUW adds its own approval on top; see CUW's preceptor requirements.
Is CUW's RN to BSN open to Georgia nurses?
CUW's disclosure marks Georgia Does Not Meet for the RN to BSN Online Nursing Program as well, the same answer the graduate tables give. The Board's closed door for clinicals by programs from other states applies to pre-licensure education, not to RNs finishing a degree. Ask CUW admissions how the table applies to you.
