Studying with Concordia University Wisconsin from Idaho
Idaho is a yes for all five of CUW's nurse practitioner tables: Concordia University Wisconsin's current disclosure marks the MSN primary care NP, both DNPs and both CAGE certificates as meeting requirements there. That is a recent change: CUW's 2022 MSN page still listed Idaho as excluded. Your clinicals run on an Idaho or multistate RN license, with a preceptor you secure and CUW's graduate faculty approve.

From the 2022 exclusion list to a meets state
In July 2022 the MSN page named Idaho, next to Wyoming and Oregon, among the places CUW was not accepting new students from, and the Post-MSN DNP page that summer did the same. By the 2024 capture of the MSN page Idaho had dropped off, and today it meets for all five NP-related tables.
Advice from that era, whether a classmate's or a forum thread's, is out of date. If your target is the MSN PMHNP or the PMHNP DNP, ask admissions directly, since CUW has published no Idaho answer for either.
What Idaho's Board of Nursing expects
The Board of Nursing is housed in Idaho's licensing agency, DOPL. Idaho Code section 54-1406 and the matching approval rule (section 150 of IDAPA 24.34.01) govern programs offered inside Idaho, with nothing written for a school elsewhere that only sends students to Idaho sites. The Board's web page points schools based elsewhere to its licensing staff, so that exchange belongs to CUW.
Two provisions reach you directly. Under IDAPA 24.34.01.100.12.a, a matriculated student in a nationally accredited APRN program may function as an APRN for work built into the curriculum, provided that student is an RN whose license or privilege is valid in Idaho. And the Board's April 2024 education policy wants every clinical preceptor, in any nursing program, to hold a license at the student's target level or higher.
Where Idaho NP students look for preceptors
On AANP's practice map Idaho is full practice: experienced NPs there diagnose, treat and prescribe with no physician agreement required. For FNP and AGPCNP students, NP-led family and internal medicine clinics sit in the same pool as hospital-owned practices, provided the site is primary care and graduate faculty sign off. The primary care site rules spell out what qualifies.
Among Idaho's larger metro areas, Boise City holds more people than Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Falls and Twin Falls combined. Many Boise-area clinics belong to St. Luke's Health System, Saint Alphonsus Health System runs a second large network there, and up in the panhandle Kootenai Health is based in Coeur d'Alene. Each system keeps its own student process, and CUW publishes no partnership with any of them.
The license an Idaho rotation runs on
Idaho's Nurse Licensure Compact membership dates from January 19, 2018, the day multistate licenses first went live. When Idaho is your primary state of residence and your RN license is multistate, that one license carries an Idaho rotation and practice in the other compact states. A nurse licensed only by a non-compact state should expect to need Idaho licensure first, given the IDAPA rule above.
Idaho has not enacted the APRN Compact, so no multistate NP privilege exists here. CUW's catalog asks for an unencumbered license without naming the issuing state; our clinical license guide covers that gap, and the Graduate Clinical Coordinator has the current word.

Can I enroll in CUW's online FNP or AGPCNP program while living in Idaho?
On CUW's current disclosure, yes: the MSN primary care NP table, which covers both tracks, lists Idaho as meeting requirements, and CUW publishes no enrollment limit by state of residence beyond the F-1 visa rule. Because Idaho sat on CUW's 2022 exclusion list, recheck the live disclosure and confirm with admissions when you apply.

Can my Idaho preceptor be a physician or a PA?
CUW's archived 2014-15 NP handbook accepted NPs, PAs, certified nurse-midwives and physicians. Idaho's 2024 Board policy expects a preceptor licensed at your target level or higher. Current CUW rules come from graduate faculty, so run any non-NP preceptor past the Graduate Clinical Coordinator before you submit.
Could I do clinical hours across the line in Washington or Oregon?
Washington joined the compact in January 2024, and CUW's table lists it as meeting for the MSN and the Post-MSN DNP but not for the Post-BSN DNP or either CAGE certificate. Oregon is outside the compact and misses every CUW NP table. Our Washington and Oregon guides cover both, and graduate faculty approve any out-of-state site.
