Ohio clinicals for Concordia University Wisconsin nurse practitioner students
Ohio is open to Concordia University Wisconsin's online NP students: every one of the five graduate NP tables in CUW's disclosure marks it "Meets Requirements," and Ohio law adds no board filing for schools based elsewhere. What Ohio does specify is who supervises you, because its statutory exemption for APRN students names an advanced practice registered nurse as the supervising preceptor or faculty member.

No board filing, but an APRN at your side
Ohio handles visiting students through statute rather than a Board application. Nothing in the Ohio Revised Code has an out-of-state program seek approval from, or notify, the Ohio Board of Nursing. Instead, ORC 4723.32 carves out students who may practice without an Ohio license. Division (F) is the NP student's carve-out: it applies when your program makes you eligible for an approved national certification exam (a qualifying master's or doctorate also counts) and you act under that program's auspices.
The catch is supervision. Whoever oversees you must be an APRN acting for your program in one of three capacities: faculty member, teaching assistant or preceptor. CUW's archived 2014-15 handbook let MDs, DOs, PAs and nurse-midwives precept alongside NPs, but in Ohio an NP, which is an APRN, is the preceptor who matches the statute's wording.

Reduced practice and the standard care arrangement
AANP rates Ohio reduced practice. Ohio NPs spend their whole careers under a standard care arrangement, the partner on it being a physician or podiatrist, and Schedule II limits depend on the practice setting. That arrangement belongs to your preceptor's practice, not to you; CUW's graduate faculty look at the preceptor's own license, certification and experience (dated CUW standards).
FNP and AGPCNP students need 750 hours, three clinicals of 250, and CUW's archived rules kept those hours in primary care rather than acute care, so a system's outpatient offices matter more than its hospitals. PMHNP programs total 500 hours.
Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, and the Kentucky line
By 2025 Census estimates, Columbus (about 2.24 million), Cleveland (about 2.17 million) and greater Cincinnati's Ohio side (about 1.76 million) are close in size; Dayton-Kettering-Beavercreek trails at about 827,000. For their own student processes, look up Bon Secours Mercy Health in Cincinnati, Cleveland's University Hospitals and Cleveland Clinic, Columbus-based OhioHealth, and Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center. CUW names none as a partner.
Greater Cincinnati also covers parts of Kentucky and Indiana, and CUW's tables split them: Indiana meets in all five graduate tables, Kentucky in none. Michigan also meets; Pennsylvania and West Virginia do not. Because CUW's catalog leaves out-of-state eligibility checks to the student (clinicals outside Wisconsin), keep a Cincinnati search on the Ohio or Indiana side unless CUW says otherwise.
Licensing since Ohio joined the compact
Ohio's NLC membership took effect on January 1, 2023, about five years behind Wisconsin's (January 19, 2018). Today your home state's multistate license reaches Ohio, and the Ohio Board publishes reports on nurses working in the state under multistate licenses issued elsewhere. Ohio has not enacted the APRN Compact. CUW's own rule: MSN, DNP and CAGE students keep their RN license unencumbered, and PMHNP certificate and DNP students do the same with an NP license that carries prescribing authority (details).

Is Ohio a state where CUW's online NP programs meet requirements?
Yes. Ohio clears every graduate NP table CUW publishes, from the MSN primary care NP (FNP and AGPCNP) through the two DNPs to both CAGE certificates. PMHNP degree students, whose programs have no table, should confirm Ohio with CUW first. Whatever the program, finding preceptors is your job.
Is there an Ohio Board approval step for CUW?
The Ohio Revised Code sets no approval or notification step with the Ohio Board of Nursing for programs based in other states. Your practice as a student rests instead on the ORC 4723.32(F) exemption, which requires the program's auspices and an APRN supervisor. Whether CUW files anything else is a question for the Graduate Clinical Coordinator.
Could an Ohio physician or PA precept me?
CUW's archived handbook accepted both, but Ohio's exemption for APRN students requires an APRN to supervise you, whether the program uses that APRN as faculty, as a teaching assistant or as a preceptor. An NP satisfies both sets of rules. Before proposing a physician or PA in Ohio, check with the Graduate Clinical Coordinator on how CUW reads the statute.
Can Cincinnati students do clinicals across the state line in Kentucky?
CUW's graduate tables list Kentucky as not meeting requirements, and the catalog makes confirming a clinical state's eligibility the student's responsibility. Treat the Kentucky side as off-limits unless CUW tells you otherwise in writing. Indiana, which meets in all five graduate tables, is the other option near Cincinnati.
